Simulation-Based Healthcare Education

An ongoing need expressed by healthcare educators throughout The Americas is for more experiential learning through simulation training. To address this gap, the UM SONHS CC opened the doors of its state-of-the-art International Academy for Simulation and Research to the international community. Customized courses are offered in English and Spanish to healthcare professionals seeking knowledge of simulation and how to integrate it into healthcare curricula. Our faculty have also traveled widely to teach simulation-based education throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The UM SONHS’ state-of-the-art five-story, 41,000 square-foot Simulation Hospital, opened in September of 2017, welcomes the international learner community, and allows for expansion of our global simulation training initiatives.
